The New "G" Operating System
Almost without any warning, engineers at the Googleplex have designed and built an extremely
sophisticated computer network. What really boggles your mind is that this whole project originally
took place as a simple idea, just a research initiative at Stanford University in the late 1990’s.
Google’s original founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page came up in 1998 with an
experimental search engine
they had developed. They decided to call it "Google", an actual play on a word describing a large
mathematical number.

Paid search continues to garner the lion's share of online advertising
For 2006, more than 5.6 percent of all ad dollars are going online, and for 2007
that figure is expected to rise to more than 6.3 percent, reaching almost 9 percent in
four years from now. Overall, paid search continues to garner the lion's share of online ad
spend, accounting for more than 40 percent of each year's spending from 2005 through 2010.
