Reciprocal linking could be damaging with Google
Tactics like lavishing on reciprocal links; or reciprocal links
don’t work as well — let’s try this fad called triangular linking;
or let’s try buying links; all these sorts of things. These are not
the sort of links that are best for your site. They’re certainly
higher in overall risk.

Snap.com buys anonymous clickstream data
Because Snap.com allows advertisers to buy on a cost-per-action
basis, it must gathers information on conversions from advertisers'
sites. It uses that information to rank results. The company also
buys anonymous clickstream data from third parties to analyze
post-click behavior. "By using the power of the masses and all
their brainpower, we synthesize that into people's intent," said
McGovern. Later, McGovern said the company wasn't in any hurry to
overtake Google or Yahoo. "This is a type of search that some
people will like now. In five years' time, I think it'll be an
important part of search."

Because Google was about to have the case against it dismissed based
on the fact that it was in the wrong venue, it forced Lane’s
Gifts’ lawyers into a bad deal. Google’s lawyers figured they could
give a small amount of cash to these lawyers and limited refunds
to the advertisers.
