Wall Street: Google is NOT a "broken" company
Despite the lower forecast, Schachter said he does not view Google
as a "broken" company. He expects the company to continue with its
rapid growth, though in the near term, he said, its new advertising
channels may take longer to develop. Analysts at Banc of America
Securities have a different view on the prospects of the search
industry, especially in light of Yahoo recently missing analysts
earnings estimates.

Google is to start a music service at some point
Would Google now turn on its new partner and launch a competitive
music download service? Analysts said it is certainly possible.
"I'm sure Google will start a music service at some point. It's an
obvious move, and I'm sure they could compete. I haven't seen them
put anything out in terms of timing, however," search engine expert
Danny Sullivan, managing editor of Search Engine Watch, told
TechNewsWorld. Google rumors abound, but not all of them are true.
Google was in talks late last year with Time Warner's AOL unit.
Many speculated that they were engaged in takeover discussions that
would make Google an AOL property. Instead, Google invested US$1
billion for a 5 percent stake in AOL.

MSN will invest in its global infrastructure to support the adCenter platform
Specifically, Liddell said the company would invest in global
infrastructure to support the adCenter platform, which is in use
in France and Singapore and being tested in the U.S. The company
is also hiring customer service people to deal with advertisers,
development talent to increase the range of capabilities and
geographies served by adCenter. Microsoft recently launched a

The increasingly important role of mobile instant messaging
AOL's impressive performance is perhaps the survey's most surprising
finding, highlighting the increasingly important role of mobile
instant messaging. Nearly 90 percent of those accessing AOL services
use the company's instant messaging offering. However, the survey
also highlights the slow uptake of the wireless Web. Only 10 percent
of U.S. mobile subscribers used a phone's browser to access news and
information in December, marking just a one-tenth-of-1-percent
increase over November's figures.
