Yahoo's new Panama platform will include more factors for ranking ads
"We had heard for a while that he wanted to leave and do something new, like maybe get into
politics," Pitz said. Panama is the name of Yahoo's new search-advertising platform. The platform,
whose first phase went live in October, had previously been delayed by a quarter. In its second
phase, the marketplace design will include more factors for ranking ads, for example.

Is Yahoo bracing itself for some major changes?
Those include former CBS executive David Katz, who was heading up the company's Sports
and Studios division. Yahoo's stock price has dropped about 30 percent since the beginning
of this year. It was trading late today at $27.35.

Google determined to go ahead with its controversial book scanning project
The search giant has always said that such scanning is no different than its indexing of
websites, and the presentation of snippets of text in response to a search is protected under
accepted standards of fair use. In Google's opinion, having to search out every single copyright
holder for permission would make the project impossible to accomplish.
